Montana Events

The following list of events in Montana are based on various aspects of the Lewis & Clark Expedition in Montana. The events are listed by city and include dates, times, facility information and a complete description. While reviewing a specific event listed, be aware that you can continue your search to find community information as well as lodging options.

In addition to this list, Montana will host its second National Heritage Signature Event, Clark on the Yellowstone, July 22-25, 2006. Complete information on these and other Signature Events scheduled nationwide can be found at Signature Events.

  • With assistance from the State of Montana’s Dept. of Transportation – Road and Mapping Section, a map of Montana has been created showing the four major events scheduled for 2005-2006, in addition to the Corps of Discovery II host community locations and dates for 2005-2006. The westbound Lewis & Clark Trail and associated events are indicated in purple; the eastbound Trail and events are shown in red.     "Lewis & Clark in the Rockies Bicentennial Festival, June 21-July 9, 2006, is a 19-day event focused on the history and development of historic byways, communities, people, cultures, landscapes, resources and attractions in Western Montana .. before, during and after the 1805 and 1806 explorations by the Lewis & Clark Expedition. Activities begin at Lolo Pass and travel through Lolo Hot Springs, Travelers' Rest, Missoula, the Bitterroot and Blackfoot areas, and end as the Lewis Party leaves Western Montana and crosses the divide.     Lewis & Clark Expedition in Blackfeet Country, July 26-29, 2006. With funding assistance from the Montana Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Commission and the Circle of Tribal Advisors, the Blackfeet Tribe is hosting a 4-day symposium on the Blackfeet Reservation, Browning, Montana. The symposium will provide a setting for local perspectives on the expedition that traversed through Blackfeet Country 200 years ago and culturally related activities throughout the 4 days. The event setting is the Mini Arbor near the Museum of the Plains Indian in Browning.     The 2006 schedule for the "Corps of Discovery II: 200 years into the Future" mobile exhibit led by the National Park Service was released recently by Steve Adams, Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Superintendent. Beginning in June and continuing into August, Corps II will follow the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail, crossing Montana in 2006.
