Stillwater County Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Commission Meeting Minutes
May 11, 2005

The meeting was called to order on May 11, 2005 at 7 p.m. by chairperson Walt Marten. Those in attendance were: Walt Marten, Aron Strange, Mary Schimmele, Marilyn Strange, Rich & Donnie Olesky and Sharon Marten. The minutes from the last meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer's report: Marilyn reported we have $2210.29. Robert needs to be reimbursed for the workshop he attended.

Committee Reports:

Site & Signage: With all of the high water we're hoping the canoe camp site doesn't get flooded. Walt may need some help securing the dugout if the water gets too much higher. We have our new sign and that needs to be installed. We also need some more chips for the dugout area. Mary will contact Sunlite again. We discussed having better signage to get people to the event. Sharon will check out some prices with Atomic Signs and will also contact Coca Cola to determine if they could help us financially.

Vendors: Dot is working on lining up some vendors.

Merchandise: Marilyn moved that committee members be able to purchase any of the products we are selling at cost plus 10%. Donnie seconded. Motion passed. Marilyn also passed around some of the products that Martens ordered at Billings Market so everyone could see what we have. The consensus was that we need to order more of everything. Marilyn will do so.

Carter Print Raffle: Sharon will get the tickets ready. They will be $5 each or 5 for $20.

Banners: Aron will try to talk to Russ to see if he needs some help getting them up.

Clark & Lewis Show: Aron has visited with Al Sipes and the school is very interested in having them present a program. The tentative date has been set for March 22nd. The prices are $800 for 1 presentation, $600 each for two and $500 each for three. If the school pays for one then L & C commission could pay for the second. Aron will check on dates & other expenses. He'll also talk to the commissioners about donating the Pavillion. We would have 1 price for advance tickets and another price at the door. Desserts would be served.

Canoe Camp Activities: Robert says the Forest Service has a program they will do at our event. He'll check on this & try to get it lined up.

Signature Rock: No report

Games: Walt has been trying to get more information on the games the Corps of Discovery played while on the journey. He's contacted a couple of people and will also try to get more information when he's at Fort Benton for the signature event.

With our event just around the corner we're going to be needing some physical help to get things set up and ready.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.

Sharon Marten, Secretary
