Southwest Montana Lewis & Clark
Bicentennial Committee Meeting Minutes
Whitehall Extension Office
Whitehall, Montana
February 24, 2005

The meeting was called to order at 11:00 by Chairperson, Cameron Clark. Those in attendance were: Cameron Clark, Kit Mather, Jim Boetticher, Dawn Huckaba, Judy Siring, Katie Bump, Lynnette Kemp, Judie Tilman.

2005 Passports: Jim Boetticher reported that 15,000 copies of the Passport would be printed. He is in the development and selling of advertisement stage and hopes to have them to the printer by the end of April. They would be available for distribution prior to Memorial Day weekend.

MTRI/NPS Signage Grant: We have not received a go-ahead from NPS. Laurie wanted to discuss a few things with Kit. She thought we needed higher resolutions photos and a few other things. However, time is of the essence.

Events: Katie passed out a calendar of events she had put together. Discussed need to get all events on not only Forest Service calendar but also the Montana Lewis and Clark website. If your counties events are not on, let Cameron know & he can help you get them posted or just e-mail Rita with them. This is important.

The St. Charles Re-enactors have spurred a lot of interest in the small communities along the Trail. Whitehall will be putting together activities to coincide with their stop in the Whitehall area. Cameron will chair that effort. More information will be available as planning progresses.

Dillon is of course busy with Corps II preparations and the annual Reenactment held at Clark Canyon headed up by Steve Morehouse. They are really planning a lot of event throughout the County. Judy Siring is leaving the Chamber but will stay involved in the Lewis & Clark Committee (both locally & regionally). All expressed regret to see her leaving Chamber.

Regional group needs to be involved in the Corps II Planning & see what can be done by other communities in the Tent of Many Voices. Try to attend their next meeting if at all possible. Need to coordinate and help get word out on all events throughout our 3 counties.

Adjourned at 12:30 P.M.
