Southwest Montana Lewis & Clark
Bicentennial Committee Meeting Minutes
Twin Bridges, Montana
September 23, 2004

Attendance: Judie Tilman, Judy Siring, Cameron Clark, Nick Novich, Katie Bump, Jim, Boetticher, Kit Mather.

Meeting called to order at 11:00 by Cameron Clark

Minutes of the June meeting were approved.

Lewis & Clark Showcase: Judy Siring attended. She reported that it was good & that she watched all types of groups. However, the cost of most groups is between $3,000 and $10,000. Way beyond what Dillon can afford for Corps II events. They may look at getting a major group and selling tickets, but unsure as of now.

Corps of Discovery II: Aug. 5-8, 2005 in Dillon- Same time as Camp Fortunate events, which works good. Need and Event Commander. The Madison County Fair is Aug. 10th. So everything should work together nicely.

The Dillon Chamber is beginning to plan for Corps II and will hold a planning meeting 10/12 at 11:00 AM @ State Bank in Dillon. Would be good if people from the tri-county group could attend. Bring ideas for Tent of Many Voices. They will need to have a hospitality room for the Corps II staff. Perhaps use 4-H Building at Fairgrounds. Use Elderhostel Volunteers & volunteers from Camp Fortunate Chapter.

Passport: There were 102 advertisers. Jim passed out a summary of income & expenses. Appears there will be $1,700.58 to carry forward. Advertising is supporting the Passport. Jim mentioned that it might be a good idea to purchase a stamp for all the advertisers to stamp people’s passports. No decision made on this.

Interpretive Signs: Jefferson & Madison signs in review at NPS. Beaverhead sign no progress in finalizing.

· Mentioned that Gold West is expanding its L&C section in its new guides.
· Cameron will attend the Fall State & Regional Commission meeting in Polson.
· At the next meeting Cameron will present a tourism packet for our review.
· Everyone was asked to bring a calendar of know events for 2005 so we could develop a tri-county calendar.

Meeting adjourned at 1:00 and everyone encouraged to explore the new Interpretive site at the Madison Co. Fairgrounds.
